Day 01 Arrival Chongqing
Arrive in Chongqing. You will be greeted at the airport (or the harbor) by your tour guide and transferred to hotel.
Chongqing is located in the southeast of the Sichuan Basin, where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet. Known as a city in the mountains, Chongqing is surrounded by waters on three sides, and by the mountains on four sides. It has moist climate with many cloudy days and less frost and snow.
Day 02 Chongqing-Dazu-Chongqing(B/L) Drive to Dazu(60km) to visit the world-famous Dazu Buddhist Grottoes as your extended tour of Chongqing.
Dazu, located in the west suburb of ChongqingCity, is famous worldwide as Rock Carving Home. It is a wonderful land. You will have a one-day tour to visit Dazu Buddhist Grottoes which is 160 kilometers to the west of Chongqing. Over 60,000 carved stone figures relating mainly to Buddhism are spread around 76 places. The content and craftsmanship are best at Beishan Hill and Baoding Hill. The art of Dazu, which emerged in the late Tang Dynasty (618- 907AD) and flourished in the Song Dynasty (960-1127) represents an important chapter in China's cultural and religious history. Drive back to Chongqing in the late afternoon.
Day 03 Chongqing (B/L)
Take a city tour of General Stewell Museum, Eling Park, Chongqing Three Gorges Museum and Ciqikou Old Street.
You will have a city tour beginning from visiting the General Stewell Museum who was chief commander of US forces in the China-Burma-India Theatre during World War II. Then your next destination is Eling Park where you can take a bird's eye view of the whole city of Chongqing.
Situated opposite the Chongqing People's Hall, Chongqing Three Gorges Museum is not only the largest monographic museum in China, but also a public undertaking for the preservation, education, scientific research in respect of cultural relics and the natural environment of Chongqing and the Three Gorges area. It helps you to have a pre-view of entire the Three Gorges with high technology from all aspects.
You can have a walk along Ciqikou Old Street where is fulfilled with local shops, old wooden houses, old pier, tea houses, local Sichuan street performance and so on.
Day 04 Departure Chongqing (B)
If you are going to take a Yangtze Cruise today, you will be free till be transferred to the harbor.
Or you are ready to say goodbye to Chongqing and take your flight to next destination.
