Gao Li Korean Restaurant |

Hidden on a small lane, Gao Li is a bit of a hole in the wall, but its eight tables are packed with patrons until 2 AM. It serves great, cheap food and specializes in tender and delicious grilled meats. You do the cooking, though, placing thin cuts of meat on a small gas grill and then wrapping them in a lettuce leaf and adding chili sauce. The noodle dishes are some of the best in town: try the cold Korean noodles for dessert.

Fong's Vietnamese Cuisine |

Don't be deterred by Fong's location in an office plaza. Inside, chirping birds, gauze curtains, bamboo furniture, and hostesses wearing ao dai (long Vietnamese dress with side slits worn over pants) set a romanticized scene for Fong's excellent French-style Vietnamese cuisine. The English and photo menu focuses on traditional dishes like spring rolls and a wonderfully smoky fried vermicelli with seafood, but it also includes bouillabaisse and other French specialties. Waiters are friendly but may not always hear you over the din in this busy and justifiably popular restaurant. |
