Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 01 Arrival, Chengdu (No meals)
Arrive in Chengdu , capital city of Sichuan . Be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel.

Chengdu, in the country's southwest basin £¬ is one of the most leisurely and carefree cities in China. It was founded in 3rd century BC, when the Qin conquered all of China within two centuries. Chengdu flourished in the Han Dynasty and picked up its name of ¡®brocade city' as it grew rich because of the thriving silk brocade industry. Also known as the land of abundance, Chengdu boasts its pleasant climate and plentiful products.


Day 02 Chengdu (B/L/D)
Today visit Baoguang Temple in Xindu which is one of the oldest and most complex Buddhist temples in China.
[ Itinerary Description ]

Baoguang TempleBaoguang means ¡®Divine Light' in English The temple is located in Xindu County , 18km north of Chengdu . The temple acquired its name from the Emperor Xizong of Tang Dynasty when he saw the divine light coming from the top of the temple one night. Legend also tells how monks at the temple found 13 Shelizi (Buddhist relics). What's more, it is famous for being built in a large scale. More than 400 huge pillars form a distributive structure of one tower, five halls and sixteen courtyards.


Day 03 Chengdu - Mt. Leshan - Mt. Emei (B/L/D)
Drive about 160km to Mt. Leshan and take a cruise to have an overview of Leshan Giant Buddha. In the late afternoon, drive another 30km forward to Mt. Emei and stay over night in Emeishan City .
[ Itinerary Description ]

Leshan Giant BuddhaBeing inscribed in the list of 'World Natural and Cultural Heritage' by UNESCO in 1997, Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest stone sculpture of Buddha in the world, lies at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers. According to records, the carving of this giant Buddha was begun in the in the first year of the reign of the Tang Emperor Tang Xuanzong ( 713 A .D.), and completed in the 19th year of Emperor Dezong ( 803 A .D.). Carved out of a cliff face, Leshan Giant Buddha sits impassively against the mountain, hands on his knees and looking across the river with heavy-lidded eyes. You will enjoy the whole picture from different sides when you take a cruise across the river.

In the late afternoon, continue your trip to Mt. Emei . It will take you about half an hour to reach the destination. Have a good rest at the hotel suited at the foot of Mt. Emei .


Day 04 Mt. Emei - Chengdu (B/L/D)
In the morning, take a cable car leading to Wannian Temple and visit Mt. Emei. Then go down to visit Baoguo Temple which is located at the foot of the mountain. Drive back to Chengdu .
[ Itinerary Description ]

Mt. EmeiLocated on the southwest periphery of the Sichuan Basin , Mt. Emei is one of the four sacred Buddhist Mountains of China . The patron bodhisattva of Emei is Samantabhadra, known in Chinese as Puxian.

Being looked from far, the undulating mountain range is like girl's eyebrows. That's why it was so named (Emei literally means girl's eyebrows' in Chinese). The rocks and vegetation seem arranged in infinite layers; they look irresistibly powerful due to the immense vastness in mass and dimension. It is reputed as ¡®the great beauty of the world'. There are 30 temples in scenic area. You will take a cable car to the most famous one - Wannian Temple . In the center of the Wannian Temple there is a huge bronze statue of Samantabhadra mounted on a white elephant. It weighs 62-ton.

About 15 kilometers from the Wanning Temple , Baoguo Temple sits at the foot of the mountain at the entrance and exit of the mountain area. The temple was built during the reign of Ming Emperor Wanli.

Drive back to Chengdu after the whole day tour of Mt. Emei . It takes you about 3 hour by coach.


Day 05 Departure, Chengdu (B)
Bidding a fond farewell to Sichuan , drive to the airport for the flight to your next stop.

A single room is subject to availability based on prior request at an additional cost; if the recommended hotel is not available, it will be substituted by a similar one.
  4. Meals as specified in the itinerary table marked with B/L/D (breakfast in hotel).
  5. Driver and English-speaking guide service on normal sightseeing activities noted in the itinerary.
  6. All entrance fees to scenic spots as shown in the itinerary. The final arrangement will be determined by local tour guides based on the local circumstances which are beyond the control of TopChinaTravel. TCT will adhere to the original itinerary as accurately as possible.
