Day-by-day Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival, Hong Kong (No meals)
Anticipation fills the air as you arrive at Hong Kong . Met by our tour guide in the arrival hall and be transferred to the hotel.
[ Itinerary Description ]

Hong Kong Hong Kong is a largely self-governing territory of China , facing Guangdong to the north and the South China Sea to the east, west and south. Hong Kong is a global metropolitan and international financial centre, and has a highly developed capitalist economy.

Beginning as a trading port, on a single, strategically located island, Hong Kong became a crown colony of the United Kingdom in 1842, reclassified as a British dependent territory in 1983, and remained so until the transfer of its sovereignty to China in 1997. Under the "one country, two systems" policy, Hong Kong enjoys a high degree of autonomy in all areas with the exception of foreign affairs and defense. As part of this arrangement, Hong Kong continues to maintain its own currency, legal system, political system, immigration control, rule of the road and other aspects that concern its way of life, many of which are distinct from those of mainland China.

Boasting one of the most spectacular city skylines in the world amid a natural setting, its identity as a cosmopolitan centre where East meets West is reflected in its cuisine, cinema, music and traditions. The city's population is 95% Chinese and 5% people of other ethnicities. With a population of 7 million people but land area of 1,108 square kilometers, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

Day 02 Hong Kong--Xiamen (B)
Before flying to Xiamen , visit Victoria Peak for a spectacular vista of Hong Kong, then move to Repulse Bay and Aberdeen's Floating Community .
[ Itinerary Description ]

Aberdeen's Floating Community Primarily an upmarket residential area, sun-drenched Repulse Bay has a relaxed resort-like atmosphere. The wide, wave-lapped beach is popular with locals and visitors alike and great for sandy strolls in the early morning when the sun is up and the sunbathers are out in force, or at sunset when all is at peace.

This crescent-shaped stretch of sand is one of the most beautiful beaches in Hong Kong . The beach features a lifeguard clubhouse built in traditional Chinese style. Its ceiling is decorated with magnificent swirling dragons. Towering twin statues of Kwun Yum and Tin Hau, both protectors of fishermen dominate the picturesque gardens that lead down to the beach.

Nearby, the colonial-style ˇ®The Repulse Bay', houses designer shops and award-winning restaurants and resembles the luxury hotel built in 1920 that originally occupied the site. Most of the grounds were redeveloped into luxury apartments more than 20 years ago. Only the original arcade remains. This is the ideal place for a romantic dinner under the stars. For something more down-to-earth, several open-air restaurants nearby specialise in wholesome barbecued food, including the freshest prawns, squid and fish. All are cheery hives of activity every night of the week.

Aberdeen Harbour is home to hundreds of people living on fishing junks. Their traditional lifestyle is dramatically juxtaposed against a modern high-rise community spread over the nearby hillsides. In the evenings, the thousands of twinkling lights reflected on the water are a magical sight.

To get a close-up look at the Aberdeen way of life, many visitors take a sampan ride or take in the view from one of two magnificent floating restaurants anchored here. Three storeys high and elaborately decorated with swirling red and gold dragons and other traditional Chinese motifs, the experience is not to be missed; neither, of course, is the delicious fresh seafood and the excellent Cantonese fare on offer.

Aberdeen is also the site of Ocean Park , one of Southeast Asia 's largest oceanariums and theme parks.

Day 03 Xiamen (B/L)
Drive to explore Snail Pit Tulou (the Earth Building), then on the way back to Xiamen, enjoy the relaxing and refreshing hot spring and stay overnight at the luxury hot spring hotel.
[ Itinerary Description ]

Snail Pit Tulou (the Earth Building)Tulou, the earth building, is a unique and mysterious Hakka architecture with a thick earth wall enclosure found only in the mountainous areas in southwestern Fujian province bordering Guangdong in Southern China . Tulou is usually an enclosed building, mostly square or circular in configuration, with a very thick earth wall which is up to 6 feet thick, topped with wooden structures from three to five stories high, housing up to 80 families. These earth buildings have only one entrance, guarded by 4-5 inch thick wooden doors reinforced with an outer shell of iron plate. The top levels of these buildings have gun holes for defense against bandits. What is remarkable about these buildings is the fact that, in spite of the earth wall, some of them are more than 700 years old, surviving through centuries of natural elements, including earth quakes, yet still standing solid.

Tianluokeng/Snail Pit Tulou Cluster is a tulou quintet cluster located at Zhangzhou City , Nanjing County , Shuyang Township , about four hours drive by motor coach from Xiamen , through winding and bumpy narrow mountain roads.

It consists of five tulous with a square Buyunlou at the center, surrounded by three rotunda tulous and an oval tulou, forming a pattern of "four dishes and a soup". The five are: The square Buyunlou (Reaching the Cloud Building ) is at the center of the quincunx. It was the first tulou at this site, built in 1796. It is three-storied high; each storey has 26 rooms, four sets of stairs, and a go around corridor in front of the rooms at each level. Buyunlou was burnt down by bandits in 1936, and rebuilt in1953 according to the original plan. The Hechanglou, is a three-storied high round earth building. Zhenchang Building is three storied with round shape, 26 rooms per storey, built in 1930. Ruiyun Building , built in 1936, is 3-storied, 26 rooms per floor. The oval shape Wenchang building of 1966, is 3-storied, 32 rooms per floor.

Day 04 Xiamen--Sanya (B/L)
Drive back to Xiamen for flight to Sanya in the afternoon.
[ Itinerary Description ]

Sanya After Haikou , Sanya is the second most populous city of the island. It is renowned for its tropical climate as a popular tourist destination. Sanya is roughly on the same latitude as Hawaii , with very warm weather all year around. It is one of the important trade ports and transportation and communication centers of China . The daily average temperature is 25.4 ˇăC and annual rainfall is 1,279 mm. The city serves as the training site for the Chinese national beach volleyball team.

The ancient name of Sanya is Yazhou, literally translated to ˇ®cliff state'. Its history can be dated back to Qin Dynasty more than 2,200 years ago. Since then, it has always been within the territory of the succeeding dynasties of China . Sanya is so remote from the capital of China , therefore it is always called Tianyahaijiao, which means the end of the sky and ocean in Chinese.  Prime ministers and lesser officials from various dynasties were exiled here and an enlightened monk named Jiangzhen accidentally sailed here and used this place as one of his harbors for his long Buddhism-missionary journey to Japan .

Day 05 Sanya (B/L)
First visit the End of the Earth and Luhuitou Park to learn some beautiful legends about Sanya. Then move to lively local market to explore Sanya's vibrant daily life. Here you also have the chance to taste a variety of delicious tropical fruits.

[ Itinerary Description ]

the End of the EarthSome 26km to the west of Sanya, the beaches are picturesque with beautiful coconut trees and fantastic stones under a blue sky. By the beach there are two huge rocks with Chinese characters on them which read ˇ®The end of the Earth and the corner of the sea'. There is a romantic legend about these two stones. In ancient times, two young lovers eloped when their parents disapproved of their marriage. When they arrived in Hainan , unfortunately, agents sent by their parents were also there. Facing the sea, they had no escape. They were so sad that they just held each other as they jumped into the sea. Suddenly, there was a thunderstorm. They were hit by lightning and changed into two stones, with the agents turned into many smaller stones around. Now people regard these two stones as symbols of eternal and faithful love. Because of this romance, many young lovers choose the place to hold their wedding ceremony.

About 5 km south of Sanya City is located a hill said to resemble an alluring deer, looking back. This hill is the very same one mentioned in a legend of the Li Ethnic Group. There once lived a diligent and brave hunter. This young man came across a charming doe one day while hunting in the mountain. He chased the deer for about nine days and nights traversing numerous hills and dales. Having reached the Luhuitou cliff edge, there was no way for the deer to escape except the churning sea below. Just as the hunter was about to shoot the doe with an arrow, she miraculously transformed into a beautiful and enchanting girl. Surprisingly, the deer was originally a fairy girl and was moved by the excellent character of the young man. She took a fancy to the seaside around Sanya and led the man here in the guise of a deer. Then they fell in love, got married and later settled in a village here. Hence the hill, the peninsula and the village are all named Luhuitou. Sanya City is also referred to as 'Deer City'.

Luhuitou Hill, with a maximum altitude of about 280 meters, is the main peak of Luhuitou Peninsula . It's an ideal place to appreciate the sunrise and sunset, and overlooks the downtown of Sanya City . Along the hillside, a red flower called Triangle Plum, the City Flower of Sanya, can be found. At the foot of an old tree stands a tablet inscribed with the red Chinese characters 'Hai Shi Shan Meng' which means a solemn pledge of love. On the branches of the old tree are hanging many ribbons indicating the permanent love of peoples prayers. Walking along, you will see a pavilion called Shanmeng Pavilion together with the Shanmeng Tablet, which corresponds to the four characters mentioned before. At the top of the hill, towers a twelve-meter (39 feet) high granite statue. It is a deer looking back, flanked by the young Li hunter and the beautiful girl. The area around the statue has been turned into a park, called Luhuitou Park.
