Day1 Beijing-Jiankou Great Wall
Pick up from your hotel after lunch (on your own arrangement) at about 13:00.
Then drive for about 2 hour from Beijing downtown to a village called Guandi, which is located in the mountains of north Beijing’s Hairou Region. Guandi Village is overlooked by the Great Wall and also surrounded by a large number of trees, which is a part of the local Green Great Wall Project. Meeting with a local cadre who looks after the local Green Great Wall project gives a general presentation on the project.
Afterwards, transfer to Xizhazi Village, which is at the foot of Jiankou Great Wall. Jiankou Great Wall
is less touristic than Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall. Jiankou Great Wall seems more original. It is not as well-maintained as the more touristic great walls. Therefore, it makes the walking somewhat dangerous and more challenging due to the narrow walkways, incredibly steep stairs, broken bricks and the broken watchtowers. It takes about 30-40 minutes to trek the west section of Jiankou Great Wall.
You will trek the west section before a barbecue dinner at the local guesthouse. Stay overnight in the campervan.
Jiankou Great Wall
►The campervan can accommodate a family / group of five (four adults and one child sharing two double beds + one single bed: one located above the driver’s cabin, one is a sofa which turns into a double bed, and one smaller bed for the child). The campervan has a shower unit and toilet, a table, a fridge and electric hotplates.►Distance and journey time:
