Three Pools Mirroring the Moon Island is the largest island in the Hangzhou West Lake. It has quiet and beautiful scenery. The scene "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon" is the most renowned at home and abroad. Here, the trees make a pleasant shade, the gardens are fine and tasteful. It is listed as one of the Ten Views of the West Lake which is a necessary destination for autumn outing.

Go ashore from the north dock of the island, first to pass two buildings including the Xianxian Temple. Then to step in the Bridge of Nine Turnings which has different shaped pavilions like the Kaiwang Pavilion, Yingcui Pavilion, Huajia Pavilion, Kangxi Imperial Stele Pavilion, etc. People stop and go, take a rest and see, or have a casual talk, or take a photo as a memento, enjoy all the beautiful scenery here. There is a short whiting wall facing the Bridge of Nine Turnings. The ends of the wall have no connection like a screen. Exquisite ornamental perforated window decorated with four flowers can be seen on the whiting wall. Outside the wall is hustle and bustle of large crowds, inside the wall is elegant and quiet.

On this island, the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon is especially renowned among Chinese and foreigners. Three Pools Mirroring the Moon Garden was formed by the accumulation of the lake mud in 1607 AD. In 1727, the north and south garden was connected with the curved bridge, the east and west garden was tied with willow causeway. The garden covers an area of 7 hectares; looking down at it, it appears a character pattern "Tian". This garden is a water garden known as "Island in the lake and lake in the island".
