The Mid-Lake Pavilion, one of the four famous Chinese pavilions, is located in the center of Hangzhou West Lake. It is smaller than the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon (Santanyinyue), larger than the Ruan Gong Islet, collectively known as "Three Fairy Isles".

The Mid-Lake Pavilion has a very long history. It is the earliest built islet in the West Lake among the three islets. "Mid-Lake level Vision" was listed as one of the Qiantang 18 Scenes in Qing Dynasty. Standing in the Mid-Lake Pavilion to take a panoramic view of the lake sights from some vantage point. The mountains look like a row of green screens.

The south of the islet has a stone tablet which is inscribed with "Chong Er"; the Chinese words were said to be inscribed by Emperor Qianlong, taking the meaning of "The wonders of natural beauty are boundless". Here, waters around the whole islet, and mountains around the waters, placing yourself in the Mid-Lake Pavilion, you will have a sense of standing in "land of idyllic beauty".
