China Great Wall Museum

China Great Wall Museum is located in the Badaling Great Wall scenic area. It is near to the Great Wall Circle Cinema. The Great Wall of China is the symbol of the Chinese nation. This museum is a knowledge base provided for those who are keen on learning about and understanding the Great Wall, as well as a fascinating destination for travelers to tour and entertain themselves. The building of it is constructed in a unique way. It looks like joined beacon fire towers from outside and the internal displays are arranged rising and falling like the Great Wall. It is full of extensive and deep culture smells of the Great Wall from inside to outside.

What to see in the museum

This museum is a thematic museum that fully shows all-round look at the history, military, architecture, economy, culture, art and present situations of China Great Wall. The exhibitions in the museum are focused on displaying cultural relics and specimens that are unearthed in the country along the Great Wall, supplemented by charts, photographs, cultural landscape and models to interpret them. It is also set up with modern multi-media facilities, such as touch screen, projectors and other multimedia tools to fully show the Great Wall to the visitors. The exhibition is composed of the four major parts: "2,000 years-Continuous Construction", "Spectacular Work-Lasting 10,000 Li", "Both Sides of the Great Wall-One Family", and "Immortal Noble Spirits-Further Development". In addition, the museum is also a temporary exhibition hall for temporary exhibitions and academic seminars.

There are important exhibits, including "World Heritage Certificate" for the Great Wall of China issued by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, and photos of 200 heads of government or heads of state from 120 countries around the world in 40 years, which was taking when they boarded Badaling Great Wall.

Development of the museum

China Great Wall Museum in Badaling was originally opened up to the visitors in September, 1994. At that time, the name of it was inscribed by the Chinese President Jiang Zemin. The floor space of the museum was about 4,000 square meters, of which 3,200 square meters actually applied. Then it was renovated comprehensively in 2007 to follow the theme of World Miracle Historical Monument. It was officially reopened to the public on 18, May, 2008 for free.
